Forgive me oif teh questions below seem patronising, but I'm just trying to get more info...

1) Do you have the IR Reciever portion of their (Mediagate) solution plugged into your PC?

2) Does Win7 recognise that USB IR device?

3) Do you have clear line of sight from your Remote to that IR Reciever?

4) can you make the remotre control any other aspect of your computer (specifically: can you prove that your remote works on that PC at all, just controling Win7)

zebraitis asks some good questions. And what does it mean to "work correctly?"
Does it work at all?

I have the GP-IR02BK, whose IR receiver works fine with XBMC 10.1. I'm now
using a Harmony 700 with the MediaGate receiver.

OK...

There are a lot of different way to have XBMC interact with a remote, some are more complex than others.

The easiest is to have the remote mimic a keyboard.

There is a lot of info available at:

http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Default_Controls

However, wanting the quick and easy answer, you just need to know how to get your remote acknowledged an an Microsoft MCE remote device and send a "P" when you want to "play"

In short, you need it to do this list:
http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Global_Keyboard

(for kicks, plug in a keyboard and make sure those commands listed in the link above work for you... they should.)

So, is there a way for your remote to send keystrokes as commands?

Is there a way for you to tell your remote to do those commands when you press a key?

And... make sure that in " System / Settings / Input Devices " you have selected both "remote control sends keyboard presses" and "enable mouse"

Sorry, I can't help you further than that... Like Hamilcar (below), I made the move to Harmony a while ago.

The Mediagate is an eHome/RC6 remote; see http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Rem..._GP-IR02BK. Many of the buttons will work with XBMC without any messing around. You should find that Play, Pause, Stop etc all work.

To fully configure the remote grab the MCERemote add-on - in Get Add-ons it's in the Programs section. See http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Usi...in_Windows for info on configuring eHome remotes.
