Dharma stuck on "Working" when playing media files
#1
Hello,

I have the same issue that is described in the Windows forum below, but was asked to start a new thread over here as well, as I'm running XBMC Live (Installed):
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=80063

The problem is that XBMC hangs on "Working" when playing a Video in Library Mode. It also has the same problem with Music in Library mode AND File mode. Disabling "Extract thumbnail and video information" does not fix the issue. Disabling tag reading and "Search for thumbs on remote shares" with Music Settings doesn't help either. In the Windows support thread above, the fix is removing corrupt files that seem to hang other media files when going to play them. Having said that and looking through my logs, I haven't been able to track them down. If anyone can help me out, I'd really appreciate it.

XBMC eventually breaks out of the "Working" state, but sometimes after 5 minutes (it varies). It is intermittent in that sometimes files play immediately and other times it takes several minutes. I had some difficulty reproducing it following a reboot and ended up capturing it after XBMC was left on for about a week. The entire debug log since rebooting is pasted below sequentially in 4 parts (sorry about the huge logs). The issue occurred on the 4th link below (towards end of log) when trying to play "Angels and Demons" and XBMC hung in "Working" for roughly 5 minutes. I decided to paste the full log in case there are other areas of interest.

I am running the standard XBMC Live (10.1 Dharma) installed to the hard drive of a dedicated XBMC PC. Of possible note, I access all of my media over a network share from a computer running Windows Server 2008 R2. Just about all of my video files are .avi and my music files are .mp3, .wav, .shn, .flac. With the same hardware and remote share setup, I never had this issue on XBMC builds previous to Dharma.

Thanks so much for any help!!!!

Chris

Anyone?

I have another log reproducing the problem again, but it's another huge one. I can pastebin it if it helps. I can't seem to reproduce the problem right after a reboot. It seems to be occurring after XBMC has been running for some time.

Thanks again to anyone who is willing to sift through these debug logs. I really don't want to have to downgrade back to Camelot, but I'm starting to think that's my fix for now Sad
