My old PC is running out out sata ports. I got an old Abit NF7-Sv2 with two SATA ports. I want to change this into a NAS but my mobo does not support booting with USB. Is it still possible to change it into a NAS?

Any recommendations for a PCI SATA card controller for under $30 in Canada?

Any old crap can be easily turned into a NAS. Easily with FreeNAS, or with a little more work using a Linux distro of your choice + Samba (my home server )
It all depends on your needs and willingness to get your fingers into it.
