VIDEO_TS folder over nfs
#1
Hi,

I have some what of a strange problem/question...

setup:
backend: ubuntu + xbmc 10.1
frontend: apple tv 1

I have a lot of Backup'ed DVDs which are in the VIDEO_TS folder structure. When I play them locally on my ubuntu server using xbmc, there is no problem. When I play them on the frontend (apple) through an nfs share it fails with:

Code:

It looks like a problem with the nfs, however the strange thing is that other formats are working fine.

I got a bit further, it has something todo with the subdirectories
If I mount the VIDEO_TS folder directly I can start the vob file

On my server, i have the follow options set:
(rw,insecure,no_subtree_check,all_squash)

Kind regards,
Jurgen

ok, found it, just installed the latest nightly-build (which I proabably should have done in the first place) and now it works

Hello,

I know this is an old post, but I was experiencing almost the same issue. I recently switched to NFS, as my files are hosted on a Mac server on which I just upgraded to Mavericks. As is well known, Mavericks doesn't support SMB1 without help of third party software.

I noticed NFS works pretty well, but most of my folders with VIDEO_TS would return the error "no video files found in this path". I searched a long time online, but then found, almost my accident, that it was a permissions issue. The folders it couldn't access had "No Access" for the "Everyone" group in 'Sharing & Permissions'. (Again, this is in OS X, but I'm sure there's equivalent permissions in Windows.) Once I changed the "no access" to "read only", NFS works great for all my VIDEO_TS folders/files!
