Aye, if you can get an i7 for less than those, I'd jump on it. Should handle all your requirements.

eskro's builds are the cheapest I've seen, although when you add hard drives and memory the price does go up. They are what they are. The prebuilts don't give you a lot of the features of the "custom" builds. For example, many of the nettops are Atom/ION based. You can almost forget Hulu and Netflix on those builds, too choppy for most people's tastes.

Silence costs money too...

Well I would phrase it differently... " those rigs are too powerful for htpc usage and so you're throwing your money away. A lesser, cheaper machine could do the same job "

Hell my htpc is only a celeron but does have a high geekbench, Being a HTPC/NAS and download server I decided to add a windows 2008 VM running .NET and SQL Server to it also Laugh

you might be a prime candidate for zotac nano.

it's cruel to throw someone who try to help you under the bus. if you can build a mini-itx i7 for half of the price in eskro's list, i'll buy all of them from you. i don't mind paying for shipping either.
>Alienware X51- do it all HTPC
>Simplify XBMC configurations
>HOW-TO Bitstreaming using XBMC
I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!

that is because we are not politician...we go straight to the point!

as the last line in my signature suggested, if he don't like any suggestion he can simply ignore it. in this case, he can simply say i preferred the pre-built over diy!

Well put, bluray. After all, we're either here to get help, or help someone out. He seems to want neither. Sad
