XBMC crashing to lowtide - TV mode compatiblity ?
#1
Hey,

XBMC is crashing back to low tide immediately upon execution. This seems to happen after some days of normal use. My guess is that its a compatibility issue with the tv/gui settings. Only workaround in the past has been to do a reinstall and then the cycle begins again. This has occurred with the official as well as the latest nightly builds.

Specifically it pulls-up....
Code:
DEBUG: Error: Requested setting (videoscreen.screenmode) was not found.  It must be case-sensitive

Details:

atv2 4.2.1 seasonpass jb
xbmc latest nightly xbmc-20110926-6c08a58-master-atv2.deb
skin: Rapier rc1
Connected to Phillips Cincos LCD tv via HDMI.
Using hdmi only.

I had the same issue and it turned out to be the addon database file. It was simply resolved by just deleting it. I'm trying to figure out what is causing it. Is it a setting or addon that's causing the database disk image to malform? Is there anyway in preventing this from happening?

1. Has this reoccurred for you since ?
2. How did you narrow it down to addon.db...was it through the log.

Davilla, I don't know why this is reoccurring.

After you suggested that it was the database. I basically did everything except to re jb it. I uninstalled xbmc and removed the xbmc folder. I then reinstalled it and updated it to the nighties and re downloaded all the repos, add ons etc.

The symptoms are the same in that upon execution xbmc simply crashes back to low tide. Furthermore, reinstalling a nightly is also not resolving the issue, something which was a temporary workaround previously.

EDIT: I have since gone and emptied the database folder. XBMC is running but since I am doing this remotely using vnc/terminal etc..

1. I am unsure what the outcome is but I can confirm that it hasn't crashed to low tide.
2. It seems that something maybe corrupting the database after a period of use.

PS. There is no scraping/library use. It is only setup to use video add ons.

Thanks again.
