How can I add my DVD collection to XBMC
#1
Big Grin
Hi guys,

I have more than 200 DVD´s organized and managed by a tool called griffith (http://griffith.cc). With griffith I can do an export of all my movies to a CSV file. My idea is to readout the csv- file automatically and to create simple 1kb- files with the name of the movie. After I did that I want to point xbmc to this directory and xbmc can download all the content, the cover and all the other stuff.

Has anybody here an idea how I can manage this? Will it work? I know that I have to get the DVD manually after I decided to watch it but it is a very comfortable way to browse through my DVD collection.....

Thank you all :-)

Best wishes

Are you wanting to rip all your DVDs to the HD, or just use XBMC for the eye candy, and insert a disc every time you choose a movie?

Just creating a dummy videofile will make XBMC scrape it and put in the library. Instead of making a dummy file you can wip up some short actual videofile with your logo and text telling you to get the dvd from the rack! THen use that videofile for each movie as 'dummie'

you can also create stub files if you are using a pre-eden nightly. I prefer stub files as you don't have to create any dummy files on the system. Check out the wiki here
