Poor performane in comparison with MPC
#1
Hi.
Just installed XBMC and started to play HD video from windows smb server.

The performance is so much worse that that of MPC. The video is not smooth, the playback is laggy and has too few fps.

In the same time MPC playback of the same file is smooth and nice and pretty.
Is there anything can be done? I'm not sure I have to provide exact versions because everybody can reproduce it anytime. I have Windows 7 and simple Atom PC connected to a TV.

Sounds like you haven't enabled hardware acceleration in the settings.

System settings, Video, Playback and enable the setting "Allow hardware acceleration (DXVA2)".

Computer Specs?
How is it Connected to LAN? (Wireless or Cat5)
Video Specs? (codec, dimensions)
What other services are running on the network?

Also make sure your device drivers are completely up to date

We'll need to see a debug log. Enable debug logging from System settings, System, Debugging, and restart XBMC. Wait a minute or two for all the startup tasks to finish then start one of the problem videos, play it for a bit then stop it and close XBMC.

Open the debug log by pressing Windows-R and in the Run dialog type:

"%appdata%\xbmc\xbmc.log"

(including the quotes). Click OK and the log should open in Notepad. Copy and paste the log into http://pastebin.com/ and post the link it gives you here.
