Availability of older stable versions?
#1
Hi,
I have a few older tablets running XP that I would like to repurpose to run as XBMC media centers around the house(for audio only). They are running XP SP3 w/directx 9.0c. After I install the latest version of XBMC, I get an error when starting up XBMC:

CApplication::Create failed()...

From searching the forums, it appears that my system is too old (Trident video chipset, Pentium III 400Mhz, etc) and does not fit the minimum reqs (although it should be plenty enough computer for outputting playlist audio to my amps).

I like the ability to network remote control these XBMC systems..., and I already have these systems. Since I only care about audio, and don't really need the spiffy graphics features, I was wondering if there are any earlier (less capable, lower minimum reqs) versions of XBMC available for download somewhere to try out (I tried searching the forums for this with no luck).

Or are there any XBMC startup flags that disable the use of any fancy graphics?

Thanks for any recommendations or reasonable alternatives.

This might help me, since my machine is quite dated as well...
Maybe a fork... I've heard of "unofficial" versions, but I have no idea what it means.
