[Xubuntu] Crunchingly slow on Xubuntu - what's up?
#1
Running Xubuntu 11.04 on Acer laptop. Celeron M 1.3GHz, 1G RAM, Integrated Intel graphics

XBMC has installed fine and loads up ok, but is crunchingly slow - cursor moves about a second at a time. I've seen discussion elsewhere suggesting it's a video driver issue, but no idea how to tackle that on Xubuntu.

Is the hardware here just not up to the job (though VLC plays DVDs with no problems), or is there a fix somewhere I'm missing?

Many thanks.

Do you have compiz enabled? On my laptop it conflicts with xbmc and causes it to run slow.

Thanks for the response.

I don't know anything about compiz, but looking at Synaptic, it doesn't seem to be installed. So I guess the answer is, no.
