XBMC on HTPC without HDD/OS
#1
Hi

I have a HTPC that does not have HDD for now. *I have sold my HDD and i have erase my OS. In deperate need to watch my movie. I tried XBMC live. but

AMD E-350 ITX MSI mobo
4GB RAM
16x DVD-Rom
No HDD

I am planning to stream the movie through network from another PC in another room, which contains my movie. How should I do now?

I tried run the XBMC live CD as boot drive. it does install and load xbmc menu, but it is extremly laggy just on the menu itself. (like 0.25 fps argh). I havent even start playing any movie.

Can anyone tell me whats the reason here? Could it be xbmc run on CD lagging? or the E-350 CPU is too slow for live CD? I dont mind having to install the entire XBMC live onto my RAM since I got more than enough to spare.

You should try OpenElec, it has support for AMD Fusion and can be installed on USB.

Why don't you try OpenELEC on a USB drive? It is very fast and works great.
