I am running the latest available version (PPC does not get updated that often, so Dharma 10.2-1), though this problem has been plaguing me for a few versions.
When playing certain .avi movies in the internal player (movie plays fine in VLC on system so I am not sure where the problem lies.), XBMC will crash, and occasionally lock up. The lock up has happened on occasion when trying to shut down XBMC. The app becomes unresponsive and unfriendly.
Force quit will not shut it down
killall and kill -9 will not shut it down.
Process status shows it to be in an uninterruptible wait state.
90947 ?? U 0:00.51 /Applications/XBMC.app/Contents/MacOS/XBMC -psn_0_6129112
System is a dual 1GHz mirror door with 2TB of drives and 2GB of ram - Leopard Server
This is becoming a bit of a pain as it becomes hard to shut down my server in a friendly way. I am feeling that the internal player is not being friendly. I have linked to use VLC as a player, but that is rather an ugly solution until VLC becomes an option in XBMC.
Any suggestions?
