[ATV2] Crashing during playback
#1
Just wanted to report a problem I'm experiencing with playback. XBMC seems to crash mostly on HD scene tv show files. The time it takes to crash is always different, but it is reproducible on files that exhibit the issue.

Here is (hopefully) all required info for the debug. I can provide additional info if needed:

Platform: Apple TV 2
iOS 4.3 build 8F305 /w Apple TV software 4.2.2 (2203)
XBMC: Git: 20111015-7163d78 (Compiled: Oct 16 2011) installed with dpkg -i

Access to my files is via Wifi to an AFP share (no auth) on OSX Leopard (10.5)

Logs:
xbmc.log - http://pastebin.com/KMuS0jJa
syslog - http://pastebin.com/SB4XESb5
crashreport - http://pastebin.com/9xAk5eH3
mediainfo - http://pastebin.com/wsy7a6ep

Thanks for any help.

I have had this issue too. It seems to only happen on one of my HD files, which plays fine on my PC. I have been meaning to re-encode to see if the issue goes away.

davilla? crash in libfreetype ... saw this somwhere else already ... strange is that it looks like a clean shutdown in xbmc.log ...

@gbandit do you use subtitles?

I'm having the same issue, noticed it on both nightlies for October 15th and 16th. S-Def files play fine, HD do not -- I tried a TV episode and several different-sized movie files.

XBMC Log - http://pastebin.com/cs4QG8QQ
System Log - http://pastebin.com/HRpXCu0J
CrashReporter - http://pastebin.com/G6eWyahT

These crashes are happening on 2 different ATV 2's, one wireless, one wired, both via SMB with centralized sql database.

@Memphiz No I have subtitles disabled (ie the Enable subtitles setting in the OSD is unchecked and set as default for all movies).

this is not a crashreporter log ... you grabbed the wrong file...

Sorry Memphiz, this is the first time I ever posted that log -- I navigated to /private/var/mobile/Library/Logs/CrashReporter as listed in the thread linked in your signature but there are 61 PLIST files in that folder and that was the only one with a date modified of today so I just assumed that was it. What's the actual file name of the log? I'll try to pull it, unless the other 2 logs I provided are sufficient enough.

Sounds like you're looking in the right place, the file will be named like AppleTV_2011-10-18-113603_Apple-TV.plist. Listing by date modified should bring it up as the latest one and the contents should look like the one I posted.

I've also had this exact issue too and I've posted a bug report about a week ago. http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/12073#comment:8

No you don't. Your crash is related to AFP. This one from this thread is something else.

I believe its not purely from AFP because once I was using MediaMaster Server I was having crashes too.

Gbandit, the odd thing is, I did take the plist file with the most recent date modified, but clearly it was the wrong thing. Any reason this wouldn't show up in CrashReporter?

Memphiz, I'll install the latest nightly tonight and post some new logs for you.

No idea Sarlic, the only time I've had a crash reporter log not show up after a crash was because of a "Crashreport logs are too big" error. After deleting some of the older logs and reproducing the crash i got my log so maybe delete some of the existing ones?
