Movie stops in the middle of the movie and returns to menu

Same problem for me.
HTPC running Win7, files on 2 different NASs (WD and D-Link). All my files are mkv.
Freeze for 15-20 seconds then jumps back to main menu. Have tried mapping drives and not using smb, disabled SSDP as suggested, did not work, increased buffer size did not work, clean install did not work
Happens on laptop and HTPC, But, seems to happen predictably with certain files.
However, I now have switched to FTP on my NASs and issue seems to have disappeared.
Freeze Logfile
Nobody seems to have found a definite solution or answer to this...is it an MKV issue?

Iam also experiencing this error with a raspberry pi and intel nuc i5, only started on Gotham 13.1 release no settings had been changed before hand because I thought I had it locked down with perfect playback.

Happens randomly about 10-20 minutes in. Have to press stop to return to main menu after lock up.

I am having this issue except it is when trying to watch Live TV from an HDHR Prime and using a Mythbuntu Backend. It's very random for me except most often it is when trying to watch football. I can watch fine for hours and then over the course of an hour I will be randomly booted out. Sometimes immediately other times after 1-2 minutes. Eventually it goes away. But it's very frustrating. I've replaced almost all of my networking equipment at this point because I thought it was a network issue. Still no luck. Only positive is that my new equipment is so fast that I can pretty much retune to my live tv channel within seconds and don't really miss anything. I'm super frustrated at this point just like everyone else above.

I've had this happen on all machines both with Gotham and now with the latest Helix release. Both of my clients are Win7 clients 64 bit.

Here is a log section of when it happened last night on a show. I thought my issue was with MythTV but now that I see that all these people have issues with watching mkv files I'm reluctant to believe that is the case. FWIW I do NOT have the issue with playing movies and already recorded tv shows. Only the Live TV. To me it seems like the buffer runs out or is accessed before it can even be written but doesn't know how to just pause and wait for it to refill and then eventually disconnects.

hi there

For me, the problem seems to be solved. I am sure the external USB disks caused the problems.
I'm running a QNAP NAS now for half a year, since the switch it never happened again.

did anyone find any issues on this ?

for me it looks like its codec specific problem.

some movies are playing others dont , and those that dont are from a specific encoder.

Same problem here, Intel NUC with updated kodibuntu on it.
Kodi 15.2
I get a lot of:
WARNING: CDVDMessageQueue(video)::Get - asked for new data packet, with nothing available

Files are on an external powered USB, I checked the file system and it's ok.
Had no problems until some days ago, then suddenly all of my movies and episodes are unwatchable.
The problem occurs after some minutes in the movie, let say ten more or less.
Any news?

Same thing happens to me when I'm watching movies that are stored on my NAS (connected through Powerline Ethernet) - movies on the HTPC HDD work fine.
It also only happens on my HTPC, not on my Rasp with OpenELEC, so I doubt it has something to do with the NAS or the LAN connection.
Started first on Gotham, became better with Isengard, back to worse with Jarvis RC.

Not sure if SNIMissingWarning and InsecurePlatformWarning have something to do with this... they always appear (though with no notable effect when watching), but CDVDPlayer::OnExit() happens way later...

Mine stops about 20-30 minutes in movies only. It returns me to the fire starter and kodi does a fresh start after I click it but I have to fast forward back only for it to occur every 20-30 minutes. Someone help me out. My log says something about the advanced setting but I reset and it still does. This is a fire stick btw. My laptop is currently playing about 30 in and hasn't stopped. Both are through the same channel(1channel) and same exact build.Confused

I spent a lot of time trying to find a solution to the same problem. After so much time I finally got the solution, at least for me.
I have my entire movie collection on an external USB 3.0 hard drive (Toshiba Canvio Basics 2TB). When its plugged in a USB3.0 port in my HTPC, the problem arises, but when its plugged in a USB2.0 port I don't know why, but it works perfect. No force stop in the middle of the video.

I use as HTPC a Zotac ZBOX CI520 with windows 10 and Kodi v16

Hope it helps somebody!

Cheers.

I finally seem to have fixed it for me.

Here's the setup that's been giving me problems:
HTPC (Windows 10, Jarvis) - Router (AVM) - Powerline (AVM/TP-Link) - Switch (D-Link) - NAS (Zyxel)
as well as
HTPC (Windows 10, Gotham) - Powerline (AVM/TP-Link) - Router (AVM) - NAS (Zyxel)

Here are a few things I tried...
  • switching the LAN adapter in the HTPC
  • changing the powerline adapter
  • changing network adapter settings
  • removing addons

Also, to make things even weirder, the following setup works:
Raspberry Pi (OpenELEC) - Powerline (TP-Link/AVM) - Switch (D-Link) - NAS (Zyxel)

Recently I changed to this setup:
HTPC - Router - NAS
and it seems to work - not sudden stops and no CDVDMessageQueue(video)::Get - asked for new data packet, with nothing available so far. Next thing I'm gonna try is Powerline on a different power socket without the switch.
