MS-Tech MC-1200 Remote not working
#1
Hi guys,

I'm new to media centers, but figured I'd try using XBMC on a Windows 7 machine to start off with. All is runing fine, except for the fact that I can not use my remote control, except for putting my computer in stand by (the red button on the top right still works ;-)). I googled it and couldn't come up with any answers. I've tried eventghost, but that doesn't seem to find any events from the remote. Could any of you help me with this?

You need to find out what type of remote you have. There are basically two types, eHome remotes (see http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Usi...in_Windows) and remotes that emulate keyboards i.e. when you press a button they send a key press (see http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Usi...in_Windows). A quick start would be to grab the Showkey applet from http://xbmcmce.sourceforge.net/. Run ShowKey and start pressing buttons on the remote to see if ShowKey reports any keypresses.

Assuming you bought the MC-1200 case, that looks a nice case. What's your impression of it? Is it well made?
