XBMC file sharing does not work with new router(s)
#1
Hi this is my first post so please be gentle....

XBMC running on ATV2
Sharing with Win7 machine with SMB

Recently I've changed routers and file sharing does not work. Error 2 appears and no connection can be made to the server. Interestingly I've tried with 4 routers in total and 2/4 will not work, no other settings changed.

Routers that work:

Dlink DIR-635
Buffalo Nstation (not sure of model)

Not working (new routers):

Apple airport extreme
Ruckus router (ISP supplied router with locked settings)

Please can anyone help a newbie here!

Thanks

Logically, it must be some setting on the router. Firewall or otherwise.

The router shouldn't make any difference whatsoever - but if you have set the router up on a 'strange' way, who knows what will work.

Is the ATV connected at all to the router?
(Wi-Fi config/ DHCP / network config)

IP addresses probably changed, so you can't connect to previously set shares.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I managed to turn off the firewall on Apple's airport extreme router - finally. For the record I had to open Airport Utility and set the router to 'bridge mode'.

It is now working flawlessly again!!Smile

Hope this will benefit someone with a similar problem out there.

Cheers
