I have just installed xbmc on a brand new installation of ubuntu 11.10

music files(both .mp3 and .m4a) play regularly in banshee

xbmc scans the library correctly, but when I select any single song it crashes sistematically

The spectrum visualisation is crashing inside the intel dri driver or something ... you could try to deactivate the visualisation or use another one and see if that fixes the crash and report back here then ...

good recommendation: I have chosen "no visualization" and it works perfectly

still crash by choosing the other available visualizations
