Buffering problem and some other questions
#1
Hi,

Finally I am succeded installing XBMC on Apple TV 2 including night build.

I also added Video folder which is on my Windows Home Server.

The problem is that when playing dvd (video_ts) or .mkv files every 30 seconds video needs to be buffered.

1. Is his problem of the nightly builds?
2. Is there any nightly build who don't have this problem?

Another questions:

2. How can I uninstall XBMC if needed?
3. Can I use micro-USB adapter to connect USB HD to my Apple TV 2 so that XBMC can use this HD to play movies?

Hi,

there are already several posts to this topic. I also have the problem. In order to reproduce it I hope I have no compiled everything :-)
I even copied the mpeg file (in my case an *.ts) to the local filesystem of my ATV2. Still buffering issues... So this eliminates at least SMB / NFS / UPNP issues. Also the interlacing is de-activated.
Here is the log:

Here is a 5min test movie I just recorded via my dm600pvr DreamBox:
"http://elmartino.myphotos.cc/mov/buffering.ts" (200MB on my own server...)

I am using ATV2, 4.2.2 (2203)
Latest Nightly Build (20111025 cfa1a05).

And it worked some 10 days ago perfectly (even via SMB), since that time the buffering started. Only I could not find anything in the git hub (but I am not an expert here).

Also this has not fixed it: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=113145

Thanks for the GREAT work - XBMC is working just great (besides the buffering...)!

It not depends on nightly builds.
On my experience only H.264 coded videos run smoothly in ATV2 due to not enough processing power (see also the wiki)

No USB devices attached. Only network access with various protocols.

Most SD content should run smoothly as well regardless of codec.

Hi,

point is, it worked fine some weeks ago for my SD-content. So ATV2 is definetly able to process the *.ts files....
Thanks,
