59.940 fps content does not play properly

As I already wrote, XBMC doesn't use Microsoft code for playback, interlacing/frame rate detection... Post a sample and we may be able to figure out what's happening.

In this clip with deinterlacing set to off or auto there is extreme hitching in the video as the guy is walking around the office. This is exactly the way it looks in Windows Media Center as well. Now, change deinterlacing to On in xbmc and the file plays smoothly. This is a video that has the 29/59 framerate switching problem embedded in it. When deinterlacing is set to auto it goes crazy trying to keep up with the constant framerate change. This is only fixed by changing deinterlacing to On every time you want to play an interlaced video with the 29/59 bug.

Thanks, I posted over there. Hopefully someone will take a look at my sample.

Maybe. StinDaWg's sample alternates between progressive and interlaced flagging, which while technically allowed, is strange. A fix, if possible, would have to come from ffmpeg.
Even forcing deinterlacing to on doesn't help for me.

Really? What graphics card do you have? When set to on the framerate stays at ~55-60, when set to auto it jumps back and forth from ~20-40-60.
