So the funds have finally come my way allowing me to build an HPTC. I don't want to do a whole lot with it, but at the same time I want to leave a little room for some capability expansion later on if I had the need for it.

In a nut shell I want my HTPC to be able to stream netflix, movie and audio files from my main computer and also play bluray and dvd disks as well. I should also mention that I want to do this all in 1080p without any lag while watching movies or TV shows.

I honestly don't know where to start and I'm kind of at a standstill with my planning. I don't want to go to over the top and have a bunch of wasted hardware, but I also don't want to get too little and have my HTPC freeze up while watching movies.

Any help would be more than greatly appreciated at this point.
