Humm, I might be wrong given new information, while the hardware CAN decode all major formats, licensing will determine which formats are enabled. If anyone needs further info on this point, I suggest contacting the Raspberry Pi contacts as this falls outside of any xbmc port to this platform.

Hurray for software patents!
Code:
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON `xbmc_%`.* TO 'xbmc'@'%';
IF you have a mysql problem, find one of the 4 dozen threads already open.

the Pi would be so DOA if this had any form of networking...
Edit: what's up with those things - they're popping like mushshrooms .. (android port of XBMC is not out of the question right? and they do mention ubuntu..)
I wonder who will meet the lowest of the variable prices - so far the Pi is the most optimistic .. and most rumoured .. I guess this will give them the advantage in terms of initial quantity
ATV2 4.3 8F455 Seas0npassed / XBMC 11
Samsung HT-P70 5.1 / Samsung WS-32Z419P

@tyger
Playing video is not the big deal, there are plenty of video flying around with R-Pi's playing 1080p video content.

If you look further down the page you posted you see a wireless network adapter.

Well, since the goal of the R-Pi is primarily educational and secondarily for the hobbyist/hacker rather than as a dedicated media player, I'm not sure that the linked media player will make the Pi DOA (whether it boasts wi-fi, or not)..... the moboplay will just be another media player in an already crowded market

whereas the r-pi will run xbmc - which is awesome - plus you'll also be able to automate your chicken coup with it.... and teach your kids some Python

...personally, I'll be buying one, whether or not xbmc flies on it

i'm finding loads of places where i think "hmm, a raspi would be awesome there" around the house and even at work, can't wait until it comes out! Big Grin

At $35 for the B model I'll buy one purely out of curiousity - and of course to impress my geek friends :-)

Why would you do this?!?!?!?

I'll be dropping £25 the minute it's out. Then, I'll be dropping some more £'s on a Gertboard. Looks like it's gonna be a lot of fun!

Then, I'll probably have to buy another one to install xbmc on as well.... of course!

Just have to be patient now (and hope I can snag one of the first batch!)
