iMac Ethernet Cable to AppleTV
#1
Hello community,

even a question in the round ..
've Changed my mind because of the low speed WiFi Airport Extreme to Buy or Dlink router with 300Mbps.
My current D-Link DIR-300 has only 54mbit And thus play MKV files is bad.

Now I've been thinking .. I have to spend so much money at all.

Would go to the network cable from iMac AppleTV?
Then a share and play movies?

I look forward to replies

HD movies are always best served on a wired network.

I know but.. i can this?
imac to AppleTV with network cable?
Wifi will still remain switched on for the iMac and AppleTV.
What happens if I specify source in XBMC does it wifi or wired?

Why not go from the Airport Extreme directly to the Apple TV? That would be a great deal simpler.

At the moment you plug in an ethernet cable to the atv2 it switches off the wifi. Its not possible to have both used on the same time ...

On the iMac go to

System Preferences -> Sharing -> Internet Sharing (make sure it's checked)

Share computer from: Wi-Fi
Check off Ethernet

Then the Apple TV2 will work when directly connected to the iMac.
