I think that's actually a 60w brick (12 Volts * 5A = 60w). Only the PSU that goes inside the case is 90w. this is the common kit that Mini-box and other retailers (NCIX) sells. Based on some furious Googling I can see that they used to offer a 90w PSU with a 80w brick but not anymore for some reason Huh

I would be very careful of getting knock offs when you buy a Pico PSU from eBay. You want the genuine mini box item, unless you don't mind risking frying all of your gear.

Perhaps going with the A4 CPU or even switching over to the Intel i3-2100T would be a better solution?

Why not just get this one?

It fits standard cases, is 102 watts passive PSU (no fan) and is under $70 shipped!

It's strange that they list this 102w psu as silent and even some of the commenters mention that it's fanless because it looks exactly like the 102w psu on mini-box's website which has a cooling fan that kicks in at higher watt outputs.

Either way I went with this 80W adapter from itxcanada for $31:
http://www.itxcanada.com/products/80w_12...87-56.html

And I ordered the Pico 90w PSU separately from directcanada for $25
so the total PSU cost comes to $56

I know I'm sort of risking not having enough power for my rig with this psu but I guess if this doesn't work I can always get a more powerful unit and use the 90w setup for another build later.

80W is definitely enough for the A6-3500

I have the setup that I linked to on Amazon, the PSU is fan less.

Yeah, I'm really jealous of amazon.com. Amazon.ca has nothing! And half of the items on amazon.com cannot be shipped to Canada... :/

So I've been putting together my htpc and the power supply is not a problem at all. I've got a 90watt Pico PSU with an 80watt powering an ASRock A75M-ITX board with a A6-3600 cpu and a 60Gb SSD and it seems to be running Ubuntu 11.10 with no hiccups.

The problem however is that the CPU heatsink/fan is too tall for my M350 case. It just narrowly prevents me from mounting the SSD inside the case Sad

I need to start looking into low profile aftermarket CPU cooling options
or maybe getting a different motherboard where the CPU is slightly off center perhaps allowing me to mount the ssd parallel to the cooler (instead of right on top of it)

ASUS F1A75-I Deluxe is one such motherboard but it is over $50 more expensive than the ASRock I have right now Eek

The cooler options are either the Kozuti (still might be too tall)

or this Silverstone

A6-3600's cooler should be 40mm high from bottom heatsink to top of its fan....
im afraid even the KOZUTI cooler wouldnt really suit your needs as its 40mm high too,,,
