Intel/ION or AMD?
#1
The Apple TV 2 I bought a while back isn't quite cutting it, so I'm looking to build a small low-power HTPC that can play 1080p, and I'd like to do it as cheap as possible. Would it better to go with an Intel Atom + ION setup, or one of the new AMD APUs? (it'll be running Windows if that matters) Any advice would be appreciated.

An ASUS 1012 with OpenELEC is all you need.

so basically use an ION and Linux/Live or an ION and OpenElec.

Dharma Live is working well for me.

nothing can playback bd iso/m2ts/mkv and index.bdmv in 1080p video w/ dts-hd and truehd audio easier than w7, and w8 is on the way soon. here is a complete amd apu htpc- Great Gift (AMD A8-3850) or this very well equipped mini htpc- ASUS EB1021-B010E Desktop (Black).
>Alienware X51- do it all HTPC
>Simplify XBMC configurations
>HOW-TO Bitstreaming using XBMC
I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!
