I've always read to use pulldown and to use smooth video playback and that's it. That's all I have turned on. I have the resolution set to 1080p24 too.

So u turned off the deinterlacer, does xbmc use it's own ? Or an it get confused if this option is on in ati driver

Smooth video playback would that not cause more problems ?

I selected these basic catalyst settings, and it seems to work fine with xbmc:

>Alienware X51- do it all HTPC
>Simplify XBMC configurations
>HOW-TO Bitstreaming using XBMC
I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!

And you're the one that said you can see the difference between a full blu ray rip and an 18GB compressed version. Big Grin I'm surprised you can see anything at all with all those settings turned on.

Now that you mention it, I believe you have to turn on deinterlace to turn on pulldown, otherwise you can't switch the button.

@bluray I am suprised you have all them options on as I turned all them off as they screw with the picture, rule is never use any processing.

@clubwreks do u enable it in xbmc or ati control panel.

i'm not sure why it messed up your video. it looks great on my 56" and 37" hdtv's with these settings. i just watched the entire hanna on my 37" hdtv using these settings 5 minutes ago!

Mm can not remember what setting it was but made the video flash a little in the background in certain scenes and when I disabled it the flicker went away.

But if it works for u great. Just wanted to know about them other to settings if I was worth leaving them on or off.

the best way is to try it. if you don't like how it looks on your screen when it is on, you can always turn it back off. i tried so many settings, and i like these settings on my htpc's.

It wouldn't matter, you don't read most of what people write anyway.

I believe in XBMC, I set it to auto. And you're right, the less processing the better. A friend of mine is an ISF certified calibration specialist. He came over today to watch football. We watched a little XBMC before the game started. He said my picture was nearly perfect, probably as close as I was going to get it without digging too much deeper in the service menus.
