So I've found multiple threads on this subject, but so far, none have worked for me.

I have the following remote receiver: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6880121003

I was under the impression that because this is an MCE R6 Receiver, that it could also accept MCE Keyboard IR commands, however my XBMC Live install doesn't seem to be recognizing them.

Anyone know if I'm wrong about that IR Receiver being able to accept MCE Keyboard input, or how to get the Ubuntu that ships with XBMC to recognize them?

Can't give you a good answer, but just to double check a perhaps obvious thing:
Have you activated the XBMC System setting "Remote sends keyboard commands" (or similar wording)?

yup. that's confirmed working.
looking at the debug log, it doesn't look like xbmc is actually receiving the keyboard presses at all, as there's no information showing up about it.

I think the problem is more related to lirc than xbmc live specifically, but that's about as far as my intuition goes.
