[Micro-ATX] A8-3850 (4x2.9Ghz) + HD6550D

yes Ferrino...

4GB (2x2GB) is what i recommend.

to reach 1866MHz, you'll have to tweak the settings in the BIOS.

Thanks. So what's the verdict on the A8-3850 stock CPU cooler? Is it definitely too loud for a HTPC?

its personal preferences...
u can always tone down its Fan Speed to ~1500RPM
using BIOS option.

Just want to say thanks for posting. I picked one up the other day.

Which picoPSU do you think I'd need to run this APU in a system with just RAM and a SSD? i.e. no HDD, optical drive, or other cards. 150W? Trying to make a near-silent system.

150W is good

Don't see where you put code in. Just $10 off newegg price if code works.

Also look at GELID Solutions FN-PX08-20 80mm fan (almost as quite and better ratings) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6835426010

Deviant Khan Wrote:I am still hoping to get an answer on the Silvercase listed in the post. The ML03B supports (4) 80mm fans, but the build doesn't have any selected. If you do the build do you need to buy the fans, or is it cool enough that it's not an issue? If you do need the fans then how does that compare to the GD04B, which comes with (3) 120mm already?

With the amount of venting on the ML03B, unless overclocking and/or using high end graphic card, I would not use any fans and look for most quiet power supply I could swing. Bear in mind intake vent under where PS mounts is 80mm, so that will be a problem for 120mm fan on the Seasonic SS-400ET.

It does have better rating, but you can't beat SilentX at 1700rpm\32cfm\14dba. It's probably the most silent with the most air flow at 1700rpm!

On the subject of cooling and noise, what power supply would you use in ML03B case (has to have 80mm intake fan on bottom)?

I want same configuration (only RAM and SSD) + bluray optical in addition.

Is there 150W picoPSU also OK?

If you want a silent PSU, this one should be perfect- Learn more about the SeaSonic USA SS-400FL Active PFC F3.
