Web Browser

Hi,

Is there a web browser for XBMC just like there is one builtin Boxee ?

It would make a complete package.

Can anybody confirm if its a standard in new Eden version to be launched soon.

Thanks,

Boxee has a browser because its a closed, signed OS. You can't install other software on it. If you want XBMC on the same box as a browser you can run it on a PC, or a Mac, or iPad, or a Linux machine of a dozen different builds including Ubuntu which ships with Firefox and simply run a real full featured browser on it - no need for XBMC to be involved.

Why stick a half-arsed browser on your media center when you can run your choice of real, fully functioning browsers in parallel on the same box? The only reason Boxee has a half-arsed browser is because they lock you out of installing non-Boxee software on their box. If it were open and you could put your own browser on their box, they wouldn't need to build a half-featured browser in.

Thats like saying "my friend Mike has a sidecar on his motorcycle, its awesome for carrying stuff - you should attach a sidecar to your massive SUV". The sidecar only makes sense in the limitation of the device.

OK less attitude. The idea of Live is that its stripped down Linux OS for running an "appliance-like" version of XBMC. If you want a Linux box with both a browser and XBMC, just start with your choice of a Linux OS with a browser and then install XBMC on it. Done.
