Now i have had numerous issues with buffering, shares, pseudo tv etc so here are my logs

operating system - darwin 11.0.0 darwin kernel version
apple tv 2 - 4.2.2
tv resolution 480p

No advance settings xml - (not sure how best to do that)
also since i got cable - the ip address keeps changing a digit every now and then.. anyway to stop taht

Main issues are
Not being able to share from external hard drive on ubuntu
buffering problems with shares from windows7
very slow accessing any of these files(possibly normal)

You have a lot of stuff in your log about add-ins that are not playing nice.
Remove any add-ins and use the confluence skin until you get your system stable - then experiment. Also turn off thumbnail extraction as this can cause dramas when playing content because it runs in a separate thread that will take resources that are needed to play (see system/Video/lists)

You should be able to set up sources without ip addresses if you are using smb.
