HTPC Build and questions...
#1
In Q1 2012 I am planning to replace my aged HTPCs with newer more power efficient hardware. I am looking and evaluating two different platforms for my requirements which are below:

3D Blu-Ray Support
Blu-Ray Support
HD Audio Bitstreaming
Windows Support
CPU power to run a skin like Aeon MQ3+

So right now I am at a road with two platforms:

1)

Intel i3-2120T
HD Radeon 6570 (Since Intel On-board sucks)

2)

AMD A8-3800

My mindset is I want a system that will be low powered idled and while using HD playback and other items will be low power. Of course with the AMD solution I don't need a dedicated GPU (I think) to perform the playback of HD audio and what not for my needs.

Now granted I am doing all this homework now but of course Ivy Bridge is coming down the pipe and maybe their integrated graphics will solve the problems that have plagued Sandy Bridge. But of course I still need a low power solution in that realm.

Any thoughts?
HTPC(s): All running LibreELEC
  • AMD 2200G APU on Gigabyte AB350N-Gaming WIFI-CF
  • RPI3 x2 | RPI2 x2

Q1 of 2012 is perfect time for "AMD Trinity APU" then! Smile
