[ATV2] Crashes scanning Music
#1
I hope someone can help me. I was so excited to find XBMC and the features it offers but now I'm stuck. I looked in other threads but I'm so new to this I'm not sure what to do. Here is the problem:

The only thing I've done from the start is gone into network settings and enabled sharing of nPnP to access my network drive. Then when I added that drive as a music source and chose scan library it starts to scan and after a few minutes it crashes and goes back to the apple tv 2 main screen. Based on earlier posts I edited all my music tags so that they are version 2.3. However, some files are WMA and FLAC which doesn't use ID3Huh Also,k some tags have lyrics in them.

Here are my system details:

Apple TV 2 Version 4.4.4 (330)
Operating System Darwin 11.0.0 Darwin Kernel Version 11.0.0

XBMC 11.0-Beta1 Git:20111222-22ad8e4
Compiled 12/26

Iomega Home Media Network Drive
I enabled DNLA for all folders

When browsing for source I choose uPnP Devices>Home Media Drive>OK>ok
Then I hold menu on source and "Scan item to Library"

After about 5 minutes it crashes and goes back to ATV main menu

My library is about 80GB with a few HUGE folders if that matters.

As soon as I figure out how to use filezilla I will post my logs.

I was really looking forward to using XBMC and I'm so disappointed at this point.

Just a note if it's crashing you will need to grab the crashreporter.log as well.
Set Up
Raspberry Pi running Raspbmc - XBMC 12.2
40" Samsung ES6800 LED Smart 3D 1080P TV
Onkyo HTS3405 5.1 DD True HD and DTS-HD Surround Sound
ReadyNAS Duo with 4TB (2 x 2TB X-RAID) Western Digital Caviar Green using NFS

I saw a bunch of files in the crash folder. Should I get them all?

Try looking here. Should just be one crashreporter.log http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW...report#OSX

this is iOS not OSX, crashreport handling is different.

there will be a symlink to the latest, you want appletv crashreports as xbmc runs as a frapp under the appletv.app.

Oh yeah, I read "Apple TV" but that is for the 1st gen one. My bad!

I experience the same. First I tried accessing my IB4220 NAS (Twonky UPnP-Server) using UPnP-Music Source because I setup a nice structure on the server.
Occasionally though xbmc would crash during playback randomly and return to the ATV2 screen.

So I followed the suggestion to use SMB instead (NFS doesn't seem to support passwords). I can connect to the share, and play files but of course I don't like the structure. So I added the share to the database and it startet scanning.
After a short while though, xbmc crashed and returned me back to ATV2 screen. As soon as I start xbmc again, I have about a minute before the restarted scan process crashes xbmc.

I checked xbmc.log http://pastebin.com/LXasYSNp and 2 seconds before the crash I find:
22:08:38 T:108126208 DEBUG: SECTION:LoadDLL(special://xbmcbin/system/libid3tag-arm-osx.so)
22:08:38 T:108126208 DEBUG: Loading: /private/var/stash/Applications/XBMC.frappliance/XBMCData/XBMCHome/system/libid3tag-arm-osx.so

Then a few more scans with different messages and an "fd=10000" and "fd=10001" at the end. Then nothing.

I hate to rain on your parade but you can't use a upnp source in the library anyway. You can add them to the library but next time you restart the upnp server the library paths will be stale.

From the Wiki:
http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=UPnP
"The drawback is that an upnp Server only sends metadata and so it is not possible to integrate the upnp shares into the XBMC library."

Sorry for not being specific enough.
I was just trying to use the UPnP Server as a source directly as I would with my web radio in the kitchen.
So I just added it as source which works fine at first but often during music playback, xbmc just crashes (maybe worth another thread).

So as a workaround I tried using SMB access and the Library function which no crashes even more often!

I hope it is clear, what I tried. The errors I describe above have a SMB Debug message too.

Thanks for reminding me though.

@g-off:
I just read through Shakesbeer's logfile - you were addressing him, right? Because I see upnp scans there.
As I said, I have the issue with smb.

Men i can't maintain all this threads about the same problem. Try this test build:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/30371861/org.xbm...agtest.deb

And give feedback in that main thread of this issue:
