Hi everyone,

i'me very happy with my atv2/linux smb/mysql setup.

Except for the Skin. I would love to use a skin like refocus or aeon nox but any other skin except for confluence takes about 1 minute 30 seconds to initially show my movie/tv-shows list (i got 400 movies/60 tv-shows in the library). Everything else is just fine. I was wondering what makes the confluence skin so special? Refocus and Aeon working fine on my macbook showing the movie list.

Anyone else experienced this behaviour?

I'm using refocus and have about 600 movies. Only takes about 5 seconds to get into all my movies with thumbnails loaded.

The problem must be something else. Whats your network setup.

Jezz_X who maintains Confluence is a lot closer to the XBMC for iOS/ATV2 development (being a member of Team XBMC, after all, in addition to being a master at skinning), so he's probably put a lot more work into optimizing things. Other skin developers might not have even experienced their skin on iOS, so they only have other users to relay their experiences for them.

Though it does sound like something's not quite right there. It shouldn't take a minute and a half for only 400 movies to load. Not sure why Confluence isn't affected but.. a few things I can think of off the top of my head that might help:

•Make sure to use wired ethernet if you can
•Do this to help speed up MySQL, which can slow down listings: http://scottbrant.net/?p=495

Confluence is also a fairly lean skin without all the extra baggage of DVD cases, extra thumbs, extra fanart, etc. All of which take time to load

at first thank you for your attendance.

It is not a big problem. I just wanted to know if someone else experienced these issues.

However here are my facts:

I use a wired connection
Dirty Regions are enabled and custom Thumbnail/Fanart Sizes
Yesterday i installed the latest nightly (xbmc-20111204-3943772-master-atv2.deb)
I'm connected to a mysql database on my linux server
All files are stored on my linux server (via SMB)

I tried the patch for mysql (i think on linux the filename must be /etc/mysql/my.cnf) and it already worked! It just took 15 seconds to load my movies with AEON Nox enabled.

Are there any other tweaks for mysql? My has never any load and i got 8 GB of ram.
