Music library scan / folder access causes crash
#31
locomot1f Wrote:here's my guisettings:

okay, so check this out! went back to that test folder, and it added the two files to the library successfully.
went through the library, and tried to play them -- crashed. didn't try to add the test folder to the library before, just went directly to the files...

went back into the library, and instead of hitting the select button on my remote, did the menu thingy (holding down the menu button); selected play using; and clicked on paplayer(default) -- and it's playing!!!

tried to queue the next song (song #3)... and it crashed.
went back in to try and play song #3 the same as before (with song #2) and it crashed. so it seems that song #3 is more of the culprit...

tried to go back and play song #2 w/ debug on, and it crashed... :-(
turned debugging back off, and it played like before.
this time, queued song #3 after song #2, and it played! wow!!!! so effing confused right now.

could you give me the xbmc.log with debugging on?

so, this is what i did.

deleted:
MyMusic16.db
MyMusic18.db

tried again to scan complete folder into library. again it crashed.

went in and created another temp directory and added the same two files.
scanned temp directory successfully; went into Music Library, and went to 'Nomadic', selected the first song (song #2) and it played; queued the second song (song #3) and it played. Stop the songs, then tried to play them again -- crashed.

went back in to try and play using alt. method (holding menu -> selecting play using -> paplayer) crashed.

resulting xbmc.log -> http://pastebin.com/cBtjXHLL

deleted the files; updated the library to remove files from library (went to files; selected the temp folder and did another scan). rebooted; added the files again; went back and rescanned the folder; went back to Music Library and tried to play the first song w/ debugging still on -- crashed. Noticed that when trying to play the song, the gui was trying to access the second song in the file list. physically deleted the song from temp folder. tried to play the song again (normally by pressing select button on remote) song played.

resulting xbmc.log -> http://pastebin.com/27A40CPc

went back to temp folder and added the second song, and removed the first song. still crashed.

so, i can get the second song to play, but only if it is queued up...Huh

nah it was only a guess since i couldn't reproduce the crash ... try the next nightly, it still might have the crash issue though Sad

Silly question time,

did you try with a vanilla atv2 setup ? (so not rapier but confluence skin, and not advancedsettings.xml etc.)

XBMC is crashing here also when accessing a folder with a hole bunch of mp3s (8GB DJ-Sets in one folder), but only when "enable tag reading" is activated (Confluence). Am in a hurry right now, will post logs tomorrow. Smaller folders are no problem at all. It seems to be ATV2 only, no trouble on my MacBook's XBMC. (All systems are running Nightly Build from yesterday)

NFS, Shared MySQL (but no music library, just file mode for music), pathsubstitution Thumbs (SMB)

thought maybe you were on to something with SMB. so i switched to NFS (running Ubuntu 11.04) and still getting the same thing.

working on getting you more logs....

@Jester. not really sure what a vanilla setup really is.
i removed my advancedsettings.xml, and, as of today, using confluence skin.

are you saying to totally remove Rapier?

here's my latest crash report log:
http://pastebin.com/Sb1Mm1H0

this is with NFS. seems maybe a little more helpful information.

i'm also about to go watch 'El Clasico'. i have more time to debug and test things during the week.

turning off "enable tag reading", did not work for me...

this is not the crashreporter log ... please have a look into the first link in my sig for where to find it.

@locomot1f

i've done basically everything you did aswell. I used your guisettings.xml and your advancedsettings.xml. I just can't getting it to crash.

But you should disable the useddsfanart option. Its slower on atv2 as jpg.

For the other issue where disabling the "Read Tag Info" option solved the crash issue - this might be a different thing then imho. Still there is not much i can do atm. I click the hell out of my remote and tried different things with the testfiles you sent me - but nothing.

@procrastinator

Your testfiles seem to don't even contain id3tags. So your issue seems completly different aswell. Though only the crashreporter logs + syslogs + xbmc.log may shed some light if the issues are all the same. (i need all of the logs because you are all running some different version and only with all logfiles a can create the needed crash information for getting a clue where exactly it crashs...)

I want this fuckin bugfix!

So all of you which had crashes here (and we are not sure if they all caused by the same bug). Feel free to test this version:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/30371861/org.xbm...d3tag2.deb

This basically only reverts the commit i think which might be the cause. Please give feedback if it "fixes" anything ...

THX for all your support here .
