I tried with the stable 10.1 and i cant reproduce mms:///multimedia.montevideo.com.uy/amlibre
I put in a .strm file and

mms://multimedia.montevideo.com.uy/amlibre won't play in mplayer or VLC either.

MMS is a closed protocol since Microsoft won't release the spec. The open source community has had to reverse engineer it, and support isn't 100%. I suspect the only way you'll be able to play this stream is to use media Player as an external player.
