i have finally got my green windows button on my mce remote to launch xbmc
it took a couple of tries but got it working now
basically i use a RC6 remote which i can program easily with the mce remote addon i programmed the windows key to Ctrl + Shift + X
i then restarted the pc to have the keymap take effect then because before when i tried to launch xbmc with the green button it would launch microsoft media centre
to get around this i right click on the start menu link for Media centre and went to the properties then shortcut tab and i changed the target from the default eshell.exe in the windows folder to my xbmc folder
so it displayed the following
after this when i press the green button it launches xbmc for me it basically tricks windows into think you are starting the default media centre and that the .exe is in the xbmc folder even though it isn't
i hope this helps someone as it was frustrating to trying to find a guide that didn't require you to use third party apps or work with scripts
