Unused remote buttons
#1
Hi,
i recently bought the Hauppauge MCE Remote Control Kit (http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main...s_id=11589).

Works great out of the box but some of the buttons do not actually have any key presses assigned to them(checked with Showkey program). I would like to map some of those buttons to functions in XMBC but due to not being able to just change the keymap.xml file I have no idea.

What do I need to map key presses to these unused buttons on the remote?

Sorry if this sort of question has been answered before but cant seem to find any info on my problem. So if someone could let me know or point me in the right direction, it would be great.

Cheers

Have a look at http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Usi...in_Windows. If your remote is using the eHome driver, which I think it does, you can use the MCERemote add-on to assign keystrokes to all the buttons.

Onceyou have all the buttons generating keystrokes, grab KeyMapedit from http://xbmcmce.sourceforge.net/ as this offers an easy way to create key mapping files.

Ok, ive downloaded that addon but looking at it, says all my buttons are mappedHuh Every button has a key press for it, even though it doesnt work at all. Tried to change a few but nothing happened??
Sorry if im a little stupid on this but i have no idea what im doing!!

EDIT: Ok, I'm seriously stupid! Problem was i was accessing the config through the "get Addons" section when i needed to access the addon from Home (had addons hidden from home). I actually got to the right page and i figured it out from there and seems to be working perfectly Big Grin

Cheers again jhsrennie, for putting up with me be such a newb Tongue

you first map remote keys to keyboard keys - that's the first add-on.
you then map keyboard keys to (xbmc) actions - that's the second add-on.
