XBMC crashes while updating music library
#1
All was working fine till I upgraded to eden beta 1

I have removed the source and added it again but the same still happens. It adds some albums but then gets to one it doesn't seem to like. If I remove the folder from the source and then rescan it adds a few more till it finds another it doesn't like. The Dirty Dancing soundtrack and Eminem Curtain Call albums I can live without but the Faithless Greatest Hits is a must.

ATV2 4.3
XBMC Eden Beta 1
Upgraded via NitoTV

There is another thread of a similar fault but the XBMC Logs are completely different. http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?p=972608

Thanks

Same here. I can live without Abba - Greatest Hits but the Dirty Dancing Soundtrack is a must-have. Big Grin

So do we have to wait for eden alpha or could it be that there will be a fix for eden beta?

I had the same problem - XBMC crashing when updating the music library - it seems to crash on songs that have ID3 v2.2 tags. I opened the library in itunes and converted all the tags to v2.3, which seems to have solved the problem for now - updating the music library finished successfully.

... I'm also interested in the best way to make all files ID3 v.2.3. Currently I have a big mess of various ID3 versions in my library

Hi Till,
had the same trouble. I am using the free software Mp3tag in current version 2.49a.
Just open all music files and hit save.

good chance to straighten the meta tags anyway...

This works and sorted my issue

Download MP3Tag here

Open software, Change directory to where your music is stored, it will show you all the tagged data agaienst each file. I didn't try clicking save to be honest but if you sort by ID3 tag type and find all the ID3 2.2 files and cick on one of the fields (artist for example) so it is highlighted and you can re-type in the box and press return it will move on to the next file and change the ID3 type to be 2.3.
When it moves on to the next file it will also be highlighted so I just clicked on the first file and pressed return 20 times. Leave it a couple of seconds and 20 files are done.
Took a while but it worked. I could then rescan the folder in XBMC and all music was in there.
