[LINUX] xbmc and ATI card
#1
Hi,

I've recently updated my computer to OpenSuse 12.1.

I've installed successfully the ATI fglrx driver

But when I've installed xbmc and run it, it popped up a message box displaying "xbmc need hardware accelerated OpenGL rendering. Install graphics driver..."

Looking at the xbmc launching script, I've discovered that it was running glxinfo and parsing its output for the string "Direct rendering: Yes"

In my case, glxinfo reports: "Direct rendering: No".

fglxrinfo reports:
Quote:OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: ATI Radeon HD 5750 OpenGL Engine
OpenGL version string: 1.4 (2.1 ATI-7.12.9)

I'm quite ignorant about this hardware stuff, so I have a few questions:

1) Is it normal that glxinfo reports no direct rendering?

2) If yes, what are the best settings for XBMC?

3) If no, any idea on how to solve this problem?

Thanks,
Serge

take a look at step 2 from here: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=116996

It should work, if AMD supports opensuse 12.1 that is

Thanks,

I've tried the "aticonfig --sync-vsync=on" option, but then XBMC crashes when it tries to play a video even when I've removed all the acceleration options (VAAPI, ..)
