but seriously how many power does a box really need to play xbmc flawlessly?
lets go with the best Blu ray rips, HD audio, high resolution fan art,

so how much cpu power is needed? ram? mother board?

bare bones, forget the case,
just mobo, cpu, psu, ram, to run xbmc,
what is the minimal requirement. but... to play it flawlessly.

I am wondering can it be priced at the same price as a media streamer?

It have too many variables (OS, software, AVR, HDTV, connections, network, configuration, etc) to generalize it. It may work for some but not for other!

1080P yes, but it is not going to satisfy bitstreaming HD audio user (that's me)!

Again, there are users used it with XBMC with great sucess. The only way to find out how it perform on your system is to try it!
