Just do a portable install of Dharma and a standard install of Eden and you will be fine.

You're probably OK not using portable mode. I run Dharma and Eden on my development PC and they share the same userdata. I get occasionaly oddities, mainly where an add-on works on Dharma but not Eden or vice versa, but generally both run fine.
