Detailed Instructions to Reproduce the Problem
It seems that anytime I use the Web Interface (http://xbmcip:8080) to start a movie around 30-60 minutes later XBMC gets shutdown and you are returned to the main ATV2 screen. The ATV2 itself does not reboot, seems more like the program is being killed by the ATV2. This is consistent, tested it with 3 different movies. If I play a movie from the regular ATV2 remote, no random reboot happens (this is with the internet browser on my laptop closed). I think there is some type of a memory leak being caused by the web interface maybe. Not sure if this happens with TV Shows as most are 20-45 minutes long, but I cannot say I ever paid attention with the TV Shows, just very noticeable on Movies. I have only tried it with 480p xvid movies as I do not have a large 720p/1080p collection.

I plan on testing playing / starting it from my Android Phone and XBMC Commander tonight. I will update how that goes IE if it crashes as well or not.

If I forgot something, or can be of service please let me know! Or if anyone knows of a fix, that would be great. As to why I am using that version, I did have the latest (at least from NitoTV) and it would crash / reboot at random. A friend told me he has no issues on the version I am running so I chose to install that, and have far less issues than before. Really this is my only issue with it now.

Thanks!

Well thats what i call a complete bug report. Only missing bit is that debugging was turned off - so the xbmc.log doesn't give much information (turn it on via Settings->System->Debug).

It is a low memory crash indeed - so looks like a memoryleak to me...

Doh!

* premiso goes and enables debugging

Smile Next time it happens I will put in the full debug log (hopefully I have time to test it tonight). Sorry about that.

I also plan on upgrading this weekend and see if the error still occurs. Will update when I get more information for ya.

I recall some mem leaks that were squashed just before beta1,

can you upgrade to beta1 and try again ? (probably won't help but at least we are testing with the latest release)

Sure thing, I will hit it up this weekend and provide a new set of logs if it happens again, if it doesn't I will report that I tried with 5 different movies and it worked flawlessly.

Ok I updated to ATV2 4.4.4 as well as to XBMC B1 installed via NitoTV. It seems to be working better, but after about 2-3 hours of watching a few TV Shows had a LowMemory crash, here are the logs for that, this was playing it from the remote and the web interface disabled. Perhaps the web interface kicks it in quicker because it jumps the memory. Either or here are the logs, I think I got them all, and debug logging was on as well (the debug log was full of the scan logs so I chopped them out, if you want it let me know and I can upload it to a site).

syslog: http://pastebin.com/hEYwN8sW
xbmc.log: http://pastebin.com/NYAzpDsE
CrashReporter: http://pastebin.com/Y1MS0VuD

The crash happened after the system had been scanning new TV Eps (3k) and Movies (~200) in. Could just be a memory leak from that, will monitor it and test the original problem of the web interface as well. This just happened as I was playing shows to keep the network connection active so the scanning of new content worked (heard it helped). If you need anything else for this issue let me know.

Thanks.

did you turn thumbnail generation off as mentioned in the faq?

No Nope, I sure didn't. Was too excited and jumped the gun. But the good news is, xbmc didn't leak too much memory last night as it was still on this morning. Granted sitting at 158MB/256MB used.

So now, I disabled the Thumbnail and changed the Audio (although I wasn't having any issues with buffering). Updating the library now as a few items were added. I will look through the FAQ again and find any other items that might assist and make sure those are taken care of.

Not posting the logs this time as they are similar and I didn't have debug mode on. After 2-3 hours of playing shows without a reboot it seems to get the LowMemory crash, this time without having done the scanning and thumbnails disabled plus all the other tips in the wiki done.

I am enabling debug mode and testing the 2-3 hour and will post more useful logs tonight or tomorrow. I might also try changing themes from Transparency! back to confluence and maybe that is where the memory leak is from. Or use Transparency! svn.

Confluence is holding strong now on Beta1 with starting from web. So seemed to have been a transparency issue on Beta1, prior to Beta1 it was an issue.

So consider this solved. I will probably continue to test Transparency via their SVN repo and hope it gets the memory leak fixed. Thanks for your time and efforts!
