Hi folks, I'm very new to all this but am thinking about building a htpc.
I've read lots of stuff and will probably go with one of the cat 7 suggestions by eskro.
Before I start though, one of the main things I'd like to do is have a pvr. I currently have a fairly old one (humax) that is just OTA and I'd like to have the ability to get the new HD chanels that are now available. (I'm in the UK so it is chanels like BBC HD that I'm talking about, in case thats relevant.)
So what I'm wondering is, how does a home built pvr compare with brands like humax? Can you have one-touch recording from an epg and series link and functions like that?
And on the hardware side, I've looked at a few HDTV cards but they don't really mean much to me. Does anyone have any suggestions? And is there any other hardware required for the recording side or is everything else just software?
Sorry if these are daft questions, but if anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great, or if you know of any good info links I'd really appreciate it.
