Smallest IR dongle?
#1
I bought a Foxconn E350 system http://www.amazon.com/Foxconn-NTA350-0H0...B00556F8BU

I'm looking for a USB IR dongle that's small. My current USB-UIRT dongle now appears too big next to this. Any help appreciated.

The IR receiver that comes with a VRC-1100 is quite small. Have a look at http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=Remote_Contr...s#VRC-1100 to get some idea of the size.

I second that, i have the VRC-1100 and the usb receiver is quite small and looks good next to the tv. The only thing is it does have an annoying red led that flashes then receiving a command from the remote.

There is a thread somewhere on here about dimming the led with a touch of model paint.

Also, the VRC-1100 receiver can be controlled with any of the very cool Harmony remotes.

Check ebay for something like "Wireless Window Media Center MCE PC Remote+Mice Control"... about €14/$17 delivered with the remote.

I use the VRC-1100 receiver with a Harmony 300 and it works very well. The Harmony has emulation for the ORtek built in so it's easy to set up.

FLIRC - Allows you to use ANY IR remote to issue ANY command or keypress

http://www.flirc.tv/

I use a nice back-lit GE remote to fully control my XBMC, including all keyboard commands.

I even have mutli-key press commands mapped to the remote, like CTRL-ALT-N to launch XBMC when I press a single buttong on the remote.

It's a simple interface. You press the key or keys on the config keyboard interface, then press the IR remote button that will issue this command. Simple. Done.
