just thought i'd share what i think looks like a good deal on those PicoPSU's.
Yeah i find them expensive, but hey, silence comes at a price i guess..
that being said, i think i found a neat combination thats priced right
and will power most miniITX HTPC's without a hitch...

USA
72W Power Kit: PicoPSU-80 + 72W Power Brick + Molex to P4 adapter = $38
84W Power Kit: PicoPSU-80 + 84W Power Brick + Power Cord + Molex to P4 adapter = $46
120W Power Kit: PicoPSU-120 + 120W Power Brick + Molex to P4 adapter = $64

CANADA
84W Power Kit: PicoPSU-80 + 84W Power Brick + Power Cord + Molex to P4 adapter = $48
120W Power Kit: PicoPSU-160-XT + 120W Power Brick + P4 extension + 2.1mm to 2.5mm adapter = $77

UK
120W Power Kit: PicoPSU-120 + 120W Power Brick + Molex to P4 adapter = £55

If anyone can find cheaper kits per wattage, plz share!

UK: Pico-PSU 120 + brick £69

(plus £2.69 for a PCI blanking plate and £2.50 for a molex-P4 adapter)

You'd easily pay £50 for a decent 90%+ ATX PSU so they're not that expensive really. Most of the cost in the UK is import costs & tax. I'm surprised that more mfrs don't make them but I guess they are pretty niche. I can't fit an ATX PSU in my case so I don't have a choice - it's pico or a noisy flexATX supply. (Although I have considered mounting an ATX PSU outside the case!)

I would never buy a PicoPSU off of eBay, there are way too many counterfeits floating around. If you are going to get a Pico PSU get one from a reseller that sells the genuine article. Your gear will thank you.

well, that Pico comes with a 60W power brick so,
consider it as a 60W PicoPSU..

I ordered something similar for my Mini-ITX build, and so far so good. Bought it off of Amazon.com - http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00316TM22/ref=...s_sce_dp_3

I really didn't need that much power, but I also didn't want to mess around over $30. Pretty cool idea.

Any electrical guru's about ?
If I get the larger 120w AC-DC power pack, will it stay cooler than getting say a 80w pack running at 80w ? or is it like a normal psu where you need to get the sweet spot of exactly what you need for peak efficiency .. and then to go further, if I was to get a 190watt AC-DC power pack, would that stay cooler again running the 80w pico ?
Does that make sense ?
I just know my laptop power supply gets bloody hot, and I want ,my htpc to run everything cool.

Also will having an external ac-dc supply just sitting there churn watts while htpc is in standby or turned off ?? hmmmm ..

Cheers,
al.

Thanks eskro,
Had a read, and it seems the efficiency is right up there, and just found their Oz website. brilliant and cheaper than buying a decent internal PSU !
Cheers.

Can the PicoPSU support the A8-3850, or is it just a Mini-ITX thing?

the 120w version surely can support an a8-3850 on an mITX mobo.

Mini-box has the PCI power bracket for $0.99.

Would the picoPSU-120 + 102W Adapter Power Kit work for the ASRock A75M FM1 AMD A75, or do you need the 120W adapter? I will try to find cheaper, but wanted to make sure I'm on the right track before I buy it.
