I'm trying to connect my Mac to the XBMC on my apple TV 2. File sharing and SMB are all [X] (checked) and ready to go, but XMBC doesn't appear to see anything in the SMB on its end.

Where Could I have gone wrong?

Are you using Mac OS X 10.7? If so, you must use the Eden Beta and select AFP instead of SMB.
