XBMC (B2) crashes on music scan/music dir access
#31
I have the same problem with beta2 running on a Apple TV 2. My server is running Ubuntu with nfs shares.

Scanning the music library always hangs on the same file:

12:52:07 T:123830272 DEBUG: DoScan Scanning dir 'nfs://192.168.1.33/export/Disk1/Music/Jacques Brel/Les 16 plus be

Ok so I started playing with Jaikoz and now the weird stuff starts..... If I have a mp3 which crashes the scan only opening in Jaikoz and saving it solves the problem!
At first I thought it had something to do with the ' character in the songs. But after changing that xbmc hang on the next song from the same album. Just opening that mp3 in Jaikoz and saving it solved my problem??

I have saved one mp3 before fixing it so you guys can take a look at it. Putting this file in my library crashes xbmc everytime. If you open this file in a mp3 tagger and without changing anything just saving you solve the problem.

Good luck!

I've just tested your file using Easytag (libid3tag) and Clementine (TagLib) and there seems to be an issue with the embedded artwork, it shows up in Clementine but not Easytag. If I save using MP3Tag then presto embedded art is now visible in Easytag.

Hope This Helps.

Tested this on OpenSuse 11.4 64 bit

I randomly receive crashes even without having id3tag enabled. I sometimes just access my music folder (on Home) after watching a movie/episode and XBMC crashes. I cant reproduce, this is really random (I had to wait 5 days until i could get the needed logs).

Here you go:

xbmc.log (does not help i guess as even you dont see that i tried to access my music folder)
CrashReporter
Syslog (Dropbox, as its about 20mb)

Running Beta2 on ATV2 4.1.1 (4.2.1 Build 8C154), did not have this problem with Beta1 or former Nightlies. All shares are NFS, thumbnails come with SMB pathsubstitution from Synology NAS and i use a shared mySQL DB.
Oh, and i just clicked on "Music" in Home when it crashed, so this is not a id3tag thing as Music on Home in my case links to different folders, not to mp3 files directly.

Your crash is unrelated to libid3tag but has to do with NFS. And it should be fixed in b3 ...

Scanning the library on my ATV2 consistently fails on a track within the Bloc Party>Silent Alarm folder - it's totally reproduceable. If I rename this then the scan runs on through but soon crashes on a different file - presumably also with a corrupt ID3 tag. Can I provide anything useful to help you diagnose?

Log and files here:

http://buffalonas.com/Chandos/axs/a:/Public

I've uploaded the whole album for comparison but log suggests the issue is with 'Like Eating Glass.mp3'.

Out of interest, I converted all but one (This Modern Love.mp3) of the originals to ID3 v2.4 tags using iTunes, re-ran the scan and the entire album was scanned correctly. The files at the link are still the originals for debugging.

I also have this problem I'm afraid. Very annoying if trying to scan a rather large audio lib.

Here's the relevant info:
Things we want from EVERY report:
Platform: AppleTV2
Version of iOS/ATV: iOS 4.4.4 (333) - jailbroken using Seas0npass
XBMC Build version and date compiled: Beta 2 of Eden
Install Method: apt-get

xbmc.log : http://pastebin.com/UzD6qcBv
syslog : http://pastebin.com/dMJhn7vB
Crashreporter : http://pastebin.com/9m2DJy1h

Hopefully this will be of any help. I am working out a way to get you the files... any tips on this? Let me know if you need anything else!

Hi everybody.
I have the same problem. Unfortunately I have B3 version. Now I am loading 80k files in a tagging program to delete what unneded - hoping that helps (in particular comments that contains ASCI extended codes that perhaps are not suitable for the module)

BUT

have you individuated the problem? in new ID3 format, things that could not suite can be lot (album covers, lyrics ecc...) and in general I agree that since the files are always the same and in previous versions worked... it is not "agreable" that system crashes on those probs.

I'll keep you informed about the results of my cleaning... but it's not scientific... :-)

By the way...

this Eden + ATV2 is realy a good product and I have experimented lot of other solutions (with lot of money spent..).

With all my film, tv series and music, the skins and the overall system quality is realy fine!

I'm proposing that solution to lot of people and triing to popularize it :-)

XBMC is Eden B3

XBMC Crashes wile acessing the folder I uploaded into my Dropbox

XBMC.log: http://pastebin.com/6zdesRgy
Crash report: http://pastebin.com/Zd899Fjw
syslog: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/23524439/syslog

Hi Memphiz
For me it works now. With this version, I can enter the folder I uploaded into my Dropbox above.

After some further testing, I was able to scan my whole music library and at the moment I can play everything stable.
Works just perfect.

I just installed the test version and I was finally able to scan my whole library without problems!

This was on a ATV2 with 4.3.3 and Eden B3.

My logs etc are on page 4 if you need them.
