Newbie-Library Problems
#1
I'm pretty new to XBMC (Windows version). I've searched for this issue in the forum and found some hits but nothing that's of any real help to me. (Maybe because I'm so new to this.)

The problem is with the library. If I'm not using the Library, all is well. I see every one of my movies and tv shows listed.

When I switch to the library view, most of my stuff is missing. For example, I have every episode from every season of "24." In the files view, I can browse and find every season and every episode. When I switch to the library, it shows "24" but it only contains 1 episode (season 6, episode 17)! All of my folders and episodes are named using the same format...I don't get it. What am I doing wrong?

I tried upgrading to Eden Beta 2 to see if it might address the problem but it doesn't. I see a fraction of my videos in the library, and I see all of them when I use Files. I'd like to use the Library view because it seems to be more valuable. But it's of no use to me if most of my movies and tv shows are missing. I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, exporting the library, importing the library...nothing seems to address the problem.

I would be most appreciative if someone could tell me where I'm going wrong (remember, I'm new to XBMC).

Thank you so much in advance!

I actually tried all those things. I definitely have the correct scrappers selected. I tried cleaning and rescanning for new content. No dice!

When you say "given the limited information," is there something else I should be including in the description of my problem?

The answer to your question is pretty general so either area to post is fine. For the most part I'm going to give you some links to check up on the basics as to why your material doesn't scrape/scan into your library. Basically most problems in this area are of nomenclature or how they're named, and the folders structured. This is especially important with TV series... the scrapers are pretty picky and like folder/file names as they're listed in the internet database. The quickest way to check for correct naming is to visit http://thetvdb.com/?tab=advancedsearch and http://www.themoviedb.org/ or IMBD if that's your preferred scraper.

I have had great success with theRenamer http://www.therenamer.com/ you just drop entire folders of multiple episodes on TV series and it fixes them up, Movies are pretty slick too.

Any of these links will have some good sound info... but some are easier to understand than others...

Thanks. I, too, thought it might be a naming problem. But then that wouldn't explain the problem it has with "24" since every episode is named using the same format, and it only finds one of them. Still, I try your suggestions and report back.

Not sure... my 24 is already archived. Did you try and get the show manually?
and did a name suggestion? As a side note: you set the scraper properly ie: Selected folder does not contain a single show... [toggled]?

Yeah, I guess naming of the files is my problem, one way or another. I'll have to work on that. THANK YOU!
