[AppleTV1] - Easy access to some commands with remote possible?
#1
Sorry if this has been asked before. I searched but couldn't find a good solution for this so I'm hoping someone with more experience can help me set this up.

My setup is ATV1 + XBMC + Harmony Remote.

These are my questions:

1) Is it possible to have a 1 or 2 remote clicks shortcut to toggle between "TV SHOWS or MOVIES" and "FILES"?

I was used to do it in 2 clicks from the quick menu but I noticed that the "library mode" option has been removed in Eden.
I know that I can browse "Files" or "TV Shows" from the main menu but couldn't find a quick way to switch between both.

2) Shortcut to "Update library" + "Clean Library"? or automatic?
I'm modifying my TVSHOWS and MOVIES folders constantly in my HDD so I have to go to the settings menu to clean library and back to update all the time...
Anyway to do both with 1 click (from the "Videos" menu or "Files menu"? it would be great to have this in the quick menu.

3) Is it possible to have more categories (similar to "TV Shows" and "Movies") for Kids movies, Documentaries, etc?

I tried installing PlexBMC to access a library that is setup that way, but it would be neat to have this in the main menu.
Is this possible?

Thanks for your help...

I've only dabbled a little bit in this stuff, but these links might help you:

explains how to modify kemap.xml files and other remote xml files:
http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Keyboard.xml

a copy of the xml file you will want to modify for your ATV1: https://raw.github.com/xbmc/xbmc/master/...Remote.xml

You probably want to map something to:

XBMC.ActivateWindow(windowid)

with windowid being one of these: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Window_IDs

Wow! Quite a bit to digest! Shocked hehehe

If I understand correctly, modifying the keymap.xml, will let me map a button on my harmony remote, to a menu.

Maybe I could just map directly to a function like "Update library", and another to do a "Clean Library"...

Or maybe even better it would be possible to do both commands with a click of one button...

Thanks for the pointers Ned... I'll see if I can get my head around this... Huh
