i have read through the xbmc wiki on remote control reviews but looking for recommendations from people who have tested out remotes can anyone recommend some good ones they have to be remotes and not keyboards for the less technical family members also i would like the ones i can use my existing keymap xml with for programming buttons i tried a similar remote this one

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/OEM-Microsoft...337173c34d

but it was ridiculously unresponsive on average it took 3 to 4 presses just to get it to recognize also you had to press really hard to do that

would love to heard suggestions ones i was looking at as they are cheap are

I have teh first one listed on that Amazon page. Altough i only got it for the IR receiver, it works pretty well.

Though if i were to get another, I'd get one with as many buttosn as possible, to program many XBMC functions.

No but why would you want that, ATV2 comes with an almost identical remote with the exception of the keyboard.

Yeah like the ir sensor directly above the male end of the usb. basically the formfactor of a usb flash drive with an ir sensor at the front. I dont want a huge usb cable to hide becouse i have a usb port at the front of my htcp. Any suggestions?

I have bought 2 that look identical to yours from this seller: http://www.ebay.com.my/itm/New-HP-Me...item4aad4c4fbe

The HP part number on the IR receiver is 5187-4563. They worked out of the box with Openelec.

Of course if you use the Boxee Remote it works over wireless so you don't need an IR. It comes with a little tiny USB nubbin and does not require any driver software.

You can do cool things too like trick shots behind your back and through your legs with it. It never misses, unlike IR. Wink
