ION distribution recommendation for PVR/myth plugin
#1
Hi there, I have an asrock ION which is hapily running xbmcbuntu, with tsp libcmyth xbmc compiled. The setup is functional, but there is significant CPU usage when in the XBMC GUI and when playing videos. In the past I've used xbmcfreak, which includes the vdpau tweaks required for playback.

My question is, if I want to use the mythtv plugind (tsp42's seems to be the best), which is the recommended method?

Do I figure out what tweaks im missing in xbmcbuntu, of use xbmcfreaks xbmcbuntu or openelecs ion pvr build (and compile in tsp42's pvr xbmc)?

Thoughts?

Cheers

Hi there, yep, i used that switch, but i think theres some nvidia driver/xorg or some other witch that im missing... or maybe im expecting less cpu than i should. Top says that there is sometimes 1 full cpu in use... and it settles down when playing a HD movie to 50% of 1 cpu.... I thought i might try one of hte openelec/xbmcfreak builds just to check if the cpu level is any less?

Hi all, sorry for the multiple postings, but i'm trying to sort this out in my head. I noticed in the forums that tsp42's cmyth addon code was "merged" into dushmaniacs code (I assume pulse8).

Does this mean that all of tsp42's good work should be available in the pulse8 ppa?

I just installed the pulse8 ppa xbmc (over xbmcbuntu), but i couldnt locate the cmyth mythtv addon. Perhaps it isnt installed by default?

Cheers,

Nathan

Hi again,

A google search for ppa and cmyth turned up
https://launchpad.net/~s-d-wood-82/+arch...thtv-cmyth

dubstar is active on these forums, and looks like he had a plan to make a ppa based on the cmyth addon.

Has anyone heard where this got to?

Cheers,

Nathan
